I'm getting used to this Radio malarkey!

Filmed collecting award

I'm starting to get used to this chatting on Radio malarkey!

Following on from our success at being named the best dog-friendly business in the South West, we spoke to the lovely Tiffany Truscott from BBC Radio Cornwall about our win.

So if you missed it, you can listen here. We chatted about what we do at Gwelmor to make it a great place to take your dog, our special 'doggie cupboard' with all the supplies you need, how the season ahead is looking, the total shock at the ceremony to be crowned the best in the South West.

I also talked about how businesses in the tourism industry should be encouraged to put themselves forward for the Cornwall Tourism Awards because, whether you win or not, you get excellent and extensive feedback from the judges which helps you know what you're doing right, as well as handy hints on what improvements can be made. It's actually worth the time entering just for the feedback!

Here's what our judge said about us: "One of the most recent guests left a testimonial which started 'words fail me'. Luckily the guest was speechless due to the exceptionally fabulous holiday experience at Gwelmor, and I can apprecitate why.

Other feedback in respect of our Dog Friendly category included: "The property offered an exceptionally high standard of thought and planning into making a dog friendly accommodation worry free for the owners, equipped with everything a dog owner might need. Just add dog."

We also spoke about cleanliness, which can be a concern for people wanting to book a holiday that don't have dogs. Cleanliness is so important to us and it showed in the fact that we received 10 out of 10 for that. The judge said: "All areas of the cottage were presented to the highest standard of cleanliness...The bedrooms are furnished and dressed to luxury standards, spotlessly clean...The property would easily pass the Hotel Inspector test for cleanliness and I could not fault it."

Once again, I can highly recommend any Cornish tourism business to enter next year's awards. The effort you put in will be worth it.
