If you're like us and love to holiday with your dogs, finding the perfect holiday cottage for all your family's needs is essential.

At Gwelmor we strongly believe that being dog-friendly does not mean just advertising 'dogs welcome' and we strive to make our four-legged friends feel as welcome as their owners.

As a result, we've received more than 100 5* reviews with guests describing us as 'an absolute treat', 'second to none' and the 'best dog friendly house we have ever stayed in'.

We launched Gwelmor in 2017 after experiencing some not-so-dog-friendly 'dog-friendly' cottages while on holiday with our cocker spaniels Molly and Indy, and now our family newcomer, Margo.

What does Gwelmor offer?

• Our garden is fully enclosed with 6ft fencing and lockable side gates so no dog, no matter how small, has any chance of performing a disappearing act!
• We provide dog treats to all our doggie guests with personalised name tags
• Our utility room is pretty much devoted to our doggie guests who get their own dedicated equipment cupboard. It includes:
  • Four water and food bowls
  • Doggie placemats
  • Wet food forks
  • Supply of bio-degradable poo bags
  • Selection of dog towels for muddy paws
  • Outside hose attachment for washing down sandy paws
  • Extra bedding
  • Spare leads
  • Dog toys and tennis balls
  • Giant fluffy throws to chuck over the sofa
  • Dog cooling mat for those hot summer months

These are just a few of the reasons our holiday cottage was named the South West's Best Dog Friendly Business of the Year 2021/2022 and won Gold at the Cornwall Tourism Awards.

Gwelmor is just four minutes walk to Widemouth Bay beach. While Widemouth itself has a seasonal dog ban (between 10am and 6pm from May 15 to September 30) just a short stroll over the sandy dunes behind Widemouth Cafe (why not grab a coffee to go?) is Black Rock which is dog-friendly all year round.

There are plenty of other dog friendly beaches close to us in north Cornwall and really worth a visit as they're stunning. We'd recommed Northcott Mouth Beach and Sandymouth Bay.

There are also plenty of dog-friendly attractions close to us, so everyone - two or four legged - can have a fab break away.
